The Medical Records Specialist is responsible for collecting medical records and processing mail at our San Antonio office location.

Responsibilities

  • Processes incoming mail, including checks and correspondence
  • Reviews and logs payments into Excel Spreadsheets
  • Processes outgoing mail by assisting billing team with collecting documents to be sent to insurance carriers
  • Reviews records for completeness, accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Requests, uploads and logs Medical Records
  • Maintains continuity of work operations by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities and continuing needs. 
  • Follows HIPAA policies and procedures to ensure protected health information is secure. 
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education and/or Experience

  • High School degree or equivalent
  • 1-2 years office experience, preferably in a health care setting
  • Experience with MS Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel and Outlook

 

Skills/Specialized Knowledge

  • Detail oriented and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge and ability for data entry and retrieval using a standard keyboard.
  • Manage multiple projects and timelines.

Other Requirements

  • Must maintain a professional appearance.
  • Ability to be at work on a regular and consistent basis. 

Physical and Mental Demands

  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time while processing mail. 
  • At times, may be expected to sit for long periods using office equipment and computers. 
  • The position involves lifting supplies and materials occasionally, up to and including 20 pounds, in addition to reaching, stooping, standing and walking. 
  • This position requires the ability to communicate and collaborate in person within the office environment as well as with remote co-workers over electronic communications. 

Work Environment

  • Standard office working environment that may be busy and noisy at times.
  • This is not a remote or hybrid position, the Medical Records Specialist is required to work in office.
